Annie Kilpatrick

MA, LMHC, NCC

Hi, I’m Annie! I’m a licensed mental health counselor based in Woodinville, WA. I’m passionate about creating a safe, supportive space where clients can feel heard, understood, and empowered in their healing journey.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Spanish Language Studies in 2017, and after four years of post-graduate experience, I returned to school to pursue my passion more deeply. I completed my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2023.

Outside of the therapy room, you can find me spending time with my husband and our dog, curled up with a good book, watching reality tv, or cooking dinner with family and friends.

Work with Me

Therapeutic Approach

My work is grounded in a long-term relational therapy framework, which means I prioritize building a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship as the foundation for meaningful, lasting change. I believe that healing happens in connection, and our relationship will serve as a space where you can explore patterns, process emotions, and reconnect with your sense of self.

Alongside this relational outlook, I integrate trauma-informed approaches to gently and effectively address the impact of past experiences. Whether you’re navigating complex trauma or ongoing stress, I provide a compassionate, paced environment where we can work together to restore safety and resilience.

To support emotional regulation and personal growth, I incorporate evidence-based techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing. These tools help you better understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, while also building skills for managing emotions, improving communication, and strengthening motivation for change.

This blended approach allows us to tailor the therapy process to your unique needs—honoring your story, supporting your strengths, and working collaboratively toward your goals.

Populations

Teens:

I specialize in working with teenagers, a population I feel deeply connected to and passionate about supporting. Adolescence is a time of immense change, growth, and often, confusion—and it can be incredibly powerful for teens to have a safe, non-judgmental space where they can express themselves openly. I work collaboratively with teens to help them navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, identity development, school or social stress, and family dynamics. My approach is warm, honest, and grounded in building trust.

Adults:

I specialize in working with adults, particularly those navigating the impact of relational and developmental trauma, life transitions, and identity-related concerns. Drawing from a relational and trauma-informed framework, I understand that symptoms such as anxiety, depression, or emotional dysregulation often emerge as adaptive responses to earlier experiences. My approach emphasizes the therapeutic relationship as a space for co-regulation, insight, and repair. I work collaboratively with clients to explore patterns of relating, attachment dynamics, and the somatic imprint of past experiences, all within a non-judgmental, attuned, and secure environment. Together, we aim to foster greater self-awareness, resilience, and the capacity for meaningful connection.

Specialized Training & Certifications

In addition to my foundational therapeutic approach, I bring specialized training to support clients dealing with complex and layered trauma.

  • Level 1 trained in Lifespan Integration (LI): a gentle, body-based trauma therapy that helps the brain reprocess painful memories without requiring
    detailed re-telling.

  • Certified Religious Trauma Therapist:
I am trained to work specifically with individuals recovering from high-control religious environments, spiritual abuse, or faith-related trauma.

  • Gottman Level 1: I am equipped with foundational tools and techniques rooted in decades of research on what makes relationships succeed or fail.
